Wing and a prayer

As I've been saying in a few posts recently, one of my New Year's Resolutions is to support British crafters - and this is also chiming with my desire to buy less mainstream stuff, and spend my money on things that are more meaningful and personal to me.

I stumbled across Nanuk Jewellery while having a trawl through Folksy, and was taken with her angel wing charm necklaces (see below). As - I may also have mentioned - I'm writing a book at the minute where one of the characters is an angel, I decided to treat myself to a piece of jewellery to inspire me. (OK, OK, that's a bit of an excuse to buy something pretty, but hey....) I also decided I wanted it personalsied a bit more - my angel is a bit of a badass, so I toughened up the necklace with the addition of a dagger charm. I had a great buying experience - Louise, the woman behind Nanuk, was helpful and charming throughout the process (I was quite fussy with what I wanted) and only a week later I received a lovely necklace, nicely packaged and made to my specifications. I wore it on Saturda night to a party and did feel a bit special putting on something that I knew had been made for me - and, let's face it, was about the same price as something I would pick up in Top Shop. Now let's hope I also find myself inspired to write by it...
